And so went Murder Shoes, the drab surf-rock quintet that captured the hearts of existential dweebs in the Twin Cities across their two-year existence. Murder Shoes announced their disbanding on Facebook last Friday, and they’ll play their final gig in support of Band of Skulls at the Fine Line on Sunday. No concrete reason was given for the sudden farewell, though lead singer Tess Weinberg did state in an interview with We Love Music that things felt like “they had run their course.”
It’s the best of the best at First Avenue’s Best New Bands Of 2015, featuring Aero Flynn, Baby Shel, Bruise Violet, Eric Mayson, Lexii Alijai, Murder Shoes and PERFUME MONSTER. On Friday, May 1, Land Ski Records welcomes its fourth band into the fold with a self-titled EP by Murder Shoes. This group of five is comprised of: Tess Weinberg (vocals, keyboard), Derek Van Gieson (guitar), Chris White (guitar, vocals), Elliot Manthey (drums), and Tim Heinlein (bass). Following their Cash On Fire EP, Murder Shoes partnered with Knol Tate this time around to record, mix, and master a self-titled release.
