There is a renaissance happening in the music scene of the Twin Cities, one that has everything to do with a woman sitting behind the drum kit. It harkens back to the spirit of the first time that I ever saw Lori Barbero banging away.

FURY THINGS 12″ RELEASE PARTY W/ ALPHA CONSUMER (SINGLE RELEASE), KITTEN FOREVER & STRANGE RELATIONS

From Fury Things and Their Facebook event page.

FINALLY! We’re putting out a 12″ on the amazing Modern Radio Record Label, and we want everyone we know to come out and help celebrate the occasion!

Here’s what’s going down:

A NIGHT OF POWER TRIOS!

ALPHA CONSUMER (7″ RELEASE):
——–
If you haven’t seen Alpha Consumer yet, you’re missing out on three of the most mind-bendingly talented musicians the Twin Cities has to offer. We’re stoked to have them on the bill and DOUBLY stoked that they’ll be releasing a split single that night! They’re one of Andy’s favorite bands, anywhere.

FURY THINGS:
——–
We’re incredibly excited to finally release VHS out into the world! 9 songs of glitched out, fast, sad, self-recorded rock sounds. VINYL!

KITTEN FOREVER:
——–
If you haven’t heard or haven’t seen Kitten Forever, COME ON, YA DOOFUS. They’re an empowering, take-no-prisoners punk trio slamming down on bass, vocals and drums. Watching them live is mesmerizing. Plus, they’ll be back from tour with the legendary Babes in Toyland. \m/

STRANGE RELATIONS:
——–
Seeing Strange Relations makes me feel all the things. Their music is telling, melancholy, smoky and all those disposable band-adjectives that actually mean something this time. Most of all, they’re just a super damn good band. For real. You’re definitely going to want to get out early for this.

IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH

We’ve got VHS visuals from the crazy-talented Sighht!
AND DJ times from your friendly neighborhood Cherry Cola!

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF it’s being brought to you by 89.3 The Current, Radio K and Pabst Blue Ribbon! GET YER $3 TALL BOYS!

This is going to be a super special night and we hope to see you all there!

Brilliant Beast “DISSOLVE” Album Release

Brilliant Beast will be releasing their debut full-length album, “DISSOLVE,” and they feel so excited about it, they’ve cashed in all of their Marlboro Rewards Points to throw a rad party for you all. “DISSOLVE” is 10 songs of dark brooding pop gaze on limited run cassette/unlimited run digital binary format, perfect for long nights (or 34 minutes, to be precise) of sucking down heaters, drinking stale coffee and questioning what the goddamn point of everything is.
With Strange Relations, Ego Death, and Blueclaw. Kitty Cat Klub, Saturday, November 7, 9:00pm. 21+, $5.

Ego Death Album Release Party

Ego Death with:

Fury Things :::
Cat lovin’ fuzz rockin’ trio who could become your life in one cymbal smashing moment. As lovable and kind as they are loud and catchy. Honestly if you haven’t heard these guys yet you do not know what is happening around you.
https://furythings.bandcamp.com/

Strange Relations :::
Believe the hype. One of the most captivating acts in town (or anywhere?) Beautiful, confessional, and challenging. A cathartic soundtrack to those memories that, for better or worse, you can’t let go of. Or for roughly forty minutes of this party!
https://strangerelations.bandcamp.com/

Brilliant Beast :::
Dankest shoegaze band in the land. Hands down. ALSO the cutest band in town. Hands down. Although the music’s not all that cute, unless staring into the sun in a wash of distortion and inescapable rhythm is your idea of cute. I can’t seem to properly articulate my love for this band.
https://brilliantbeast.bandcamp.com/

HOSTED BY ::: DJ GAY BBY
Ego Death has a very intense love for all the insanely hot and fresh wonder coming out of Eau Claire these days. So our boy gay bby aka sayth aka the mc of ec is gonna make sure the night is rife with lit beats from beyond the cutting edge.

DOORS AT 9:00
MUSIC AT 9:30
$5 // 21+

Review – Niki Becker – Reactor

a1789279361_10

By Rebecca Marx

Niki Becker has shed her folk rock skin, and in her upcoming album: Reactor, a more mature and confident style is revealed. Everything about this new album feels disarmingly authentic, and in her unpretentious voice, life lessons at times are hard won. Continue reading
