Reina del Cid has been called “the girl next door” her whole life.
When she takes the stage, she typically sports a ponytail and Converse sneakers. But a few notes into her first song, and it is immediately clear why this band and its unassuming front woman are capturing audiences all over the nation. Reina’s vocals are sweet as a summer’s day, and with her band of virtuosos, she delivers a spirited folk rock set with the spot-on luster of a veteran artist.
The band’s secret weapon is female flat picker Toni Lindgren. She combines Tony Rice inspired bluegrass licks with a Hendrix infused rock sensibility, blowing audiences away at festivals and music halls across the country.
Fresh off of well-received appearances at CMJ (New York), Summerfest (Milwaukee), and Underground Music Showcase (Denver), the band has announced its plans to release a sophomore record this fall. The Warming House, Minneapolis. Saturday, May 7, 2016. Doors 7:30pm, show 8:00pm. $8-$18.
