Jaycer, also known as Niki Becker, has reinvented herself and has unleashed a certain truth that even she had never known before. Her debut album, All In, literally goes all in and it is nothing short of great. This album is and only is Jaycer; from writing to producing and mastering, plus everything in between, was done completely on her own from the comfort of her own home right here in Minnesota.
All In tells a story that people will want to hear and love. Jaycer grows tired, loses love and loses sight of herself, then comes back even stronger than before by reinventing herself and learning to love again– all in an eight track album. It is an emotional journey from start to finish.
Jaycer is a strong female voice and leader that Minneapolis needs and has been asking for. Not only is her sound completely different; with the 80s pop and old school rock-ish vibes. But she is motivating, and empowering. The first track and name of the album, “All In,” is about just being who you are. The lyrics: “Don’t take yourself so seriously/ There’s more to you than what it seems” is what makes the album even more personal. This album was a journey for Jaycer, but she found her sound and who she was through this piece of art. It can be applied then to any struggle that one may go through.
The album All In is not what one may think when they think of Twin Cities music. The majority of the music that comes out of Minneapolis is usually Indie. But Jaycer has a sound like no other; it’s techno, rock, pop, with some slow downs. It’s weird and out there– but it makes sense for the stories being told.
More artists need to go All In like Jaycer.
