I did the writer thing on this review where I typed my opening sentence almost ten times and then deleted it and started over. It was the equivalent of pulling ten pieces of paper out of the typewriter and throwing them in the garbage.
I was looking for the perfect line to say how this band walks the line of metal, hard rock and punk, creating an attitude and sound that just works. Well, it works for me. It’s catchy riffage, fast forward drums and in your face vocals.
I know I compared their first release to early Iron Maiden, and you could do the same for this one. I will take it one step further, early Iron Maiden meets The Dead Kennedys.
Out of the gate, the first song “Electric Sex” grabs your attention. The guitar / vocal dynamic intertwining on the chorus is very cool. “Endurance” the second song is more of the same, that is a little more boot stomping then the first.
The third track “Kittenger’s Fall” slows things down a little bit, but keeps the heavy impact going. “Nude Metal” is a fun two-minute romp, which quickly became my favorite track.
You get a bonus track when you purchase the EP, called “Emperor of Time.” The track works well as a bookend for the other songs.
I like the direction this band is going in, the sound of this band has evolved since it’s first recording. They seem to be hitting their stride, and whether the next release is another five songs or full album I will be looking forward to listening.
