A dismal yet eerily smooth mix Adi created with his new EP, Fruits of Regal, which shines a small light through the clouds of reality into a large abyss of darkness known as humanity.
The auto-tune may be present within this EP, but the use of it is fitting. Fruits of Regal is uniquely depressing, but if a listener were to dive deep within the lyrics, many layers of hope are spread thinly throughout the record.
Ambient flavors whisk over each track, a dismal backdrop to someone’s mind, the mind of Adi. A man who seems to be filled with an inauspicious backdrop, but this is not to discredit how moving this record is. The lyrics are intelligent and the production is truly on-point to the vibe of the record. Adi places a dimly room into the listeners mind allowing it to fill to the brim with personal lightless recollections.
From the beginning of the EP and fluidly flowing to the end, each track has a deep, impenetrable tone.
Without a doubt the most desolately delectable track is “Minstrel Rock,” which has a doleful party vibe, as if the walls were all black and only the speaker vibrated everyone’s soul at a party. “Swear to god, I’m a rockstar,” echoes throughout the track.
This EP is not for those who want to have a dance party, but more so for those who want to descend into a transitional hip-hop record that touches ambiance, but also intrigues the listener to stay tuned in. Adi has created a tenebrous album to delve into; Fruits of Regal is not surface level hip-hop.
